Accommodation

CIRM has arranged a special group rate at the Westin Josun Busan hotel, which applies from the 11-20 October.
To book a room at the Westin Josun - please complete the hotel registration form and email to the hotel. The hotel will confirm the reservation.

NOTE! The Westin Josun has a Saturday night surcharge of ₩60,500 per room (this is common in Korea).

Hotel terms and conditions:

• Rates per night starting from ₩278,300 (including taxes and VAT; excluding buffet breakfast which is ₩55,000).
• Reservation will be guaranteed with delegate’s credit card.
• Reservations can be amended or cancelled up to 48 hours prior to arrival free of charge. Should the delegate cancel their reservation less than 48 hours before arrival then the hotel shall charge a cancellation fee of one night's stay.

Visas

Many CIRM Members will be exempt from requiring a visa to visit South Korea. Please check using the Korean government's official webpage: Korea Visa Portal - as this portal is quite difficult to use, we recommend that you check your own government's advice on visa requirements for travelling to Korea.

You may be required to apply for a Korea Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA), even if you are exempt from a visa - please check the official webpage: K-ETA

Please note that if you require a letter of invitation from CIRM, at least 3 months notice is required (mid-July).

Travel

Gimhae International Airport is a 45 minute drive from the Westin Josun Busan hotel.
Taxi services are available from Gimhae Airport.

Partners

For delegates bringing their partners to Busan, those partners may participate in the evening social events provided a "partner fee" is paid. This fee applies equally to the partners of Members and of special guests.

For the avoidance of doubt, no partners are entitled to join lunches or tea/coffe breaks during the daily meeting sessions.

It is our intention to arrange a Local Tour on the afternoon on Wednesday 16th October for delegates, and all partners will be welcome to join.

Weather

In October the weather in Busan is usually mild and dry with a gentle breeze, with temperatures ranging from 15—20°C (58—69°F)

Dress code

Dress code is as always smart casual; ties are not necessary.

About Busan

Busan is a major trading hub and the second most populous city in South Korea. As well as being the site of the largest port in the country, Busan is also a tourist destination, home to Asia’s largest department store (Shinsegae Centum City) and the scenic Haeundae Beach. Programme

The detailed programme will be published once it is mature. In the meantime, the table below provides the general schedule:

Specific topics under discussion will include autonomous shipping, Martime Connectivity Platform, developments in AIS-based services and applications, ECDIS and S-100 matters, the customer perspective, digital maritime communications, ship service matters, and more!

Meetings of individual CIRM Working Groups will take place before lunch and after lunch on the final day (Thursday 17 October).
